This often leaves characteristic scars all along their opponent's body. Females also possess these teeth, but they rarely erupt beyond the gum line. Cuvier's beaked whales travel in pods numbering 10 to 15 individuals but males are occasionally solitary. This species feeds on various crustaceans, mollusks, squid and pelagic fish.
