The Story

The western spotted skunk is part of the Mephitidae family and can be found in western North America. Instead of one white stripe, the western spotted skunk has multiple white stripes or splotches. Due to larger musk glands and the presence of a third thiol compound 2-phenylethanethiol, this species of skunk produces a more pungent spray than the striped skunk.
